Sharp, Daniel - Language Arts

Mr. Sharp
“A book is the most effective weapon against intolerance and ignorance.” Lyndon Baines Johnson

******   Be responsible and respectful. *******

Supplies: You will need a notebook for this class. The notebook will stay in class and become a valuable resource throughout the year. Have a reading book, writing utensil, and paper each day.

Technology: Classroom technology is school property, not yours. Be responsible or your privilege will be revoked. Some thoughts on phones:

  • I don’t want to see or hear your technology (off and out of sight).

  • Failure to put your technology in the “Phone Prison” immediately and without a scene will result in a disciplinary referral to the office.

  • There will be times I will allow you to get your phones out (research, reading, Kahoots, listen to music, etc…), but I expect it to only be used for the designated purpose, and I will announce that purpose. You should know that if no direction is given, you leave it off and out of sight.

I believe Aristotle when he said, “What we have to learn to do, we learn by doing". Students will be asked to do assignments (jobs) and assessments (performances). Assessments (performances) will carry heavier weight in grading than assignments (jobs).

100%-90% = A           89%-80%= B              79%-70%= C              69%-0%= I

Assignments and assessments are meant to be done on time. Grades will be docked each day they are late and will be tagged as late in the Gradebook. Students can still prove proficient (C grade), but may not receive a higher grade that represents stronger achievement.
