A few months ago, Rep. Greg Smith came and spoke to our 3rd grade students about how an idea moves through the government system to become a law. He set up a really engaging activity where students played various roles of the legislative process to determine Oregon's official flavor of ice cream. As a follow-up, students will get to testify to the Joint Ways and Means subcommittee this Wednesday. More details can be found in this article: https://northeastoregonnow.com/area-students-to-testify-virtually-on-states-official-ice-cream-flavor/
You can watch Wednesday's subcommittee meeting at 3pm by visiting this link: https://olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/2024R1/Committees/JWMGG/Overview
A big THANK YOU to Rep. Smith, his staff, and Shanna Evans for helping to create this outstanding learning opportunity and experience for our kids!
