Exciting times ahead for SSS basketball teams!
We will be dismissing at noon on Thursday 2/29 to allow students, staff and community to attend the state basketball tournament in Pendleton. The Tiger boys play Western Christian at 1:30pm at Pendleton High School. The Tiger girls play at Pendleton Convention Center at 6:30pm.
We are lucky to be so close to the tournament site and are excited to be able to support our teams. We hope to see you there!

A few months ago, Rep. Greg Smith came and spoke to our 3rd grade students about how an idea moves through the government system to become a law. He set up a really engaging activity where students played various roles of the legislative process to determine Oregon's official flavor of ice cream. As a follow-up, students will get to testify to the Joint Ways and Means subcommittee this Wednesday. School is canceled for SSD for Thursday, 1/25.
School is on time today (Tuesday 1/16) as road conditions are fine, but the bus routes will be delayed. The low temperatures are causing start-up issues with almost all of our bus fleet. Please dress for the weather, especially if your child rides the bus and will be waiting outside.
As of right now, we will run on a 3-hr delay schedule for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17th.
The forecast for the overnight period that begins at 8:00pm tonight shows snow that becomes sleet around 1:00am, turning to freezing rain about 4:00am. We will be in a better position to assess road conditions in the daylight tomorrow morning. If further precautions are required, the district will push out notifications by 8am.

Today marks the end of our first full week of school in December, and there are 8 more school days until Winter Break. Along those lines, not all districts in the region have the same Winter Break timeline, so it is important to keep a copy of the calendar handy.
